South Korean girl group, GFriend, hosted their first concert in Malaysia on the 29th last month. SinChew Entertainment conducted an interview with the energetic and cute members of GFriend. During the interview, GFriend talked about their fans constantly. They also took an opportunity to "expose" a member's act. Album sales have increase enormously 

GFriend is formed with 6 members, Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, Sinb and Umji. When they first debuted, many did not think they will do well because they are from a small company. Through hard work, they quickly became one of the biggest girl group. Their album sales have also had a rapid growth ! After their comeback at the start of July with their new mini album 'Fever Season', they have broken their personal record for the highest number of albums sold. According to the recent data released by South Korea's Hanteo Chart, 'Fever Season' has sold 51,234 copies in its first week. Comparing this to their debut mini-album 'Season of Glass' that had sold 500 copies in its first week, this has grown more than 100 times. And is also their best recorded since their debut in 2015.

GFriend recently charted on Top 10 of Billboard's World Albums Chart. It's also GFriend' 6th time in Top 10 on the World's Albums Chart. GFriend is also the only girl group, who was promoting during that time, to enter Top 10 in the chart. GFriend never expected such great results and wants to thank Buddies for their support. But the members feel humble and shy from fans calling them "Champion Girl Group".

Relationship between members are becoming better and better

GFriend debuted with 'Power Innocent', a unique image, and songs with high notes such as 'Rough', 'Me Gustas Tu' and 'Love Whisper'. They quickly became extremely popular. They have debuted 4 years ago and they think their biggest growth is that the bond between the members have become even stronger. Yuju said, "After years of being together, our chemistry has gotten better and better. When we're tired, we cheer for each other". Yerin agreed, "Our thinking and personality has also became more mature." Umji and Eunha claimed that on top of their diverse style/multiple genre of music, they're happy to jump out from 'pure' and show different concepts to everyone. They can take on different concepts no matter whether it's handsome, noble, cool or cute concept.

Synonym of Knife Like Dance

When speaking about GFriend, you can't miss out knife-like dance. During their appearances on 'Weekly Idol', the members' chemistry is amazing no matter whether it's the 2x speed dance or random play dance. Therefore, they became one of the girl groups with high capabilities to represent knife-like dance. When asked which songs have the most challenging dance, they all agreed that it's the new song 'Fever'.

How did GFriend, built their teamwork for its knife-like dance moves ? Sinb said "We didn't have this much chemistry from the very beginning. It is through practicing endlessly to build this teamwork. With just a subtle stare or move, we can now understand what the members are trying to express and to become so good at knife-like dance"

Giving back to Buddies for their love

Sowon is the leader of GFriend and is known as one of the best leaders among girl groups. Sowon, who always love her fans, constantly talks about Buddies, "Honestly, we are very thankful for Buddies all over the world who has expressed their love. Because of them, GFriend can get stronger and bigger." She expressed that they have an opportunity to perform in Malaysia because they can see Malaysian Buddies and give back to them for their love.

GFriend's gratitude for their fans is not just a throwaway. During 'Go Go GFriend' in Malaysia, GFriend released a fan song 'Hope' that is also in their new album. All of the members have participated in the lyrics writing of this song to convey their love to Buddies. They first revealed this during their concert, making many fans touched. 

Who is the most difficult to arrange a time to meet ?

When asked about how they spend their vacation time, what is the activity that the members want to do the most ? Eunha said, Sabah has recently became a hot tourist attraction to Koreans. "I hope we will have an opportunity to climb the mountains and enjoy the beautiful scenery together with the members." Sowon revealed that when the members don't have any schedules, 2-3 members would occasionally meet up to go shopping, to eat or to watch a movie. She then went on to "expose" that a certain member is difficult to meet up with ! When the journalist asked which member, Umji at the side immediately said in English "No Comment". 

Umji explained that when she is on vacation, she would often spend time and go on trips with her family. During the days without schedule, she would stay at home to sleep and watch movies. She also complained quietly "They always go out really late. I prefer to go out during the day !" She then made a promise to the members that she will no longer be difficult to meet up with. Sowon also showed her power as the leader and said to the youngest, Umji, "That's a promise that you have to keep!"

The leader, Sowon, takes care of the members really well and show love to fans. She said that there's no pressure of being a leader. Because of Buddies, she can live happily every day

Eunha hopes they can go to Mount Kinabalu together.

Yuju shared that the variety show she wants to go on the most is "Knowing Bros". She wants to see the reaction of the members during “Ask Us Anything” segment.

Yerin said if she has a chance to act, she wants to act as a bad/evil character.

Umji will start hanging out with the members during their time off. The members would also want to watch a movie with you !

Sinb, who is the main dancer in the group, expressed that the members have worked very hard practicing endlessly to show a perfect performance.
